The glass industries have capabilities to provide different finishes to customers for different sizes and needs. But in these processes water is, again, very important.

PROBLEM

Water is often used to cool furnaces, compressors and the remaining molten glass. The use of water in factories varies widely, but is usually in the region of one cubic metre per tonne of molten glass.

Of this cubic metre, half is evaporated in the cooling process and the rest is discharged as wastewater.

On the other hand, many factories use water with emulsified oil to cool and lubricate the mechanisms that handle the molten glass.
